Counter Strike é uma modificação (MOD) do Half-Life que conseguiu atingir um nível de sucesso maior do que o próprio jogo que o originou. Lançado por uma equipe à parte em 1999, um ano após a aparição de Half-Life, em pouco tempo conquistou uma legião de jogadores e criou um fenômeno mundial. No Brasil não foi diferente, o jogo foi capaz de engendrar a chamada "febre das lan-houses", que perdurou por muito tempo.

Counter Strike is a modification (MOD) of Half-Life that got to reach a level of larger success than the own game that originated it. Thrown by a team apart in 1999, one year after the appearance of Half-Life, in little time conquered a legion of players and it created a world phenomenon. In Brazil it was not different, the game was capable to engender the call "fever of the lan-houses", that lasted long for a long time.
